Rainbow over the North Sound as seen from Hog Heaven
Virgin Gorda · Where Pigs Fly

Top of the world.
Bottom of a rum punch.

A mountaintop bar, grill and viewing point overlooking a billion dollar view. Open daily until sunset.

Since forever

Hog Heaven sits high on the ridge above Leverick Bay, looking straight down on the turquoise waters of Virgin Gorda's North Sound.

Sailors anchor below. Goats wander the road. The grill is smoking by 11 and the rum is pouring by noon. Locals, charter crews, and the lucky visitors who find the road up — this is where they all end up.

Our Story

A family, a ridge, and a fire that never quite goes out.

Hog Heaven started the way most good things on Virgin Gorda do — slowly, and with a grill. What began as a roadside cook-up for friends and passing sailors grew, over the years, into the island institution it is today: a family-run mountaintop bar and grill perched 1,200 feet above the North Sound.

Three generations have tended this fire. The pigs still fly, the rum still pours, and the view still stops people mid-sentence. Pull up a stool — you're family now.

September 2017

Irma and Maria took the roof. We built it back stronger.

When Hurricane Irma slammed into Virgin Gorda as a Category 5 in September 2017, the old Hog Heaven — wood-framed, tin-roofed, sitting exposed on the highest ridge on the island — didn't stand a chance. Two weeks later Maria came through and finished the job. The mountaintop was flattened.

So we rebuilt. Reinforced concrete, steel rebar, hurricane straps on every rafter. Same view, same family, same flying pigs on the sign — but built to take whatever the Atlantic throws at us next.

Caribbean BBQ spread
The Grill

Slow-smoked, salt-kissed, served family-style.

Caribbean BBQ done the only way it should be: low heat, hardwood smoke, and a generous hand with the seasoning. Pair it with rice and peas, johnnycakes, or a plate of fresh-caught fish straight from the boat that morning.

Parakiting

Where pigs truly fly.

Hog Heaven is one of the most sought-after parakiting take-off zones in the world — 1,200 ft above the North Sound, with views across the Virgin Islands and the wild gradient of blues where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean. Sign a waiver, get the nod from Dale, and launch right off the roof.
